Wondering what you should be doing in order to prepare for your arrival to campus? Be sure to complete the following action items and review the rest of our website to ensure you are as prepared as possible.

May Checklist

Enrollment

  • Submit your Room and Board Application via the WashU Housing Portal.
  • Have your high school submit your final transcripts.
  • Send your official ACT/SAT scores (if applicable). 

Establish Access

  • Activate your WashU Key.
    • Your WashU Key is the set of login credentials (login ID and password) you’ll use to access Workday Student and many other WashU online services. All entering first-year and transfer students receive an email notification with information about their WashU Key, Workday, and their university email address. 
    • Note that the email comes from Connect Admin <iam-noreply@wustl.edu> with the subject line “Your WashU Key has been created.” If you do not receive your WashU Key activation email by June 1, please reach out to IT Support or call 314-933-3333.  
  • Enroll in DUO two-factor authentication and Duo Mobile to easily access WashU systems securely.
    • Activate your WashU email account; all communication from the university will be sent here, check it regularly.
      • Select the “Log in to Office 365” button. 
      • For email and calendaring assistance, contact IT Support or call 314-933-3333.  
    June Checklist

    Establishing access

    • Review and edit your profile in Workday; this is where you will access course registration, billing statements and more. 
      • Select “Student Information” and “User Profile” on the top navigation panel. 
      • Ensure you have an updated home address. 
      • Check that all of your contact information is correct, including mailing address(es) of any parent or family contacts you would like the university to be aware of. Only family email accounts included on your student profile will receive university updates and announcements, including emergency notification emails. 
      • You can also add your preferred name so it can be reflected on your university records, including your student ID card.

    Prepare for arrival

    Academics

    • Check your WashU email account daily for important messages from your academic division.
      • You will be contacted by your academic advisor to discuss course options for the fall semester.
      • Class of 2029 registration begins on July 9 at 9 a.m. Central Time.
      • You will be able to access syllabus information through Canvas, the university’s online learning management system.
    • Take any necessary online placement and diagnostic exams
      • You should complete online placement and diagnostic exams prior to speaking with your academic advisor about fall course selection. When you take the exams, be sure to record your final scores and have them available when consulting with your advisor. 
    • Connect with Disability Resources if you require accommodations due to an identified disability or have questions about specific disability-related concerns.

      July Checklist

      Establish access

      • Apply for your WashU ID Card by August 1.
        • You will need your 6-digit student ID number.
          • To move into your residence hall, you must complete this process by the deadline.
          • Direct any questions regarding your WashU ID card to Campus Card Services.

        Academics

        • Check your WashU email account daily for important messages from your academic division.
          • You will receive details about course registration and connecting with your academic advisor. You may also be asked to fill out important forms. 
        • Complete the Canvas course on the Student Conduct Code, academic integrity and hazing policies.
        • Registration for the Class of 2029 begins on July 9 at 9 a.m. CT.
          • You must connect with your academic advisor and be approved to register before your assigned registration time. Your academic division will email you with information about how to connect with your advisor. 

        Health & well-being

        Prepare for arrival

        • Check your WashU email account for the fall semester bill.
        • All new students must take the CliftonStrengths inventory by August 1.
          • Check the July Bear Bulletin for instructions on taking the inventory, including your access code. 
        • Check your housing assignment and register for a move-in time slot in the WashU Housing Portal; move-in time slots can be selected beginning Monday, July 7 at 1 p.m. CT.
        • Register your bike with WashU Police.
        • To participate in In the Lou excursions during Fall Welcome, sign the off-campus event waiver by July 31.
          • Complete the Survey of New Students by August 13.
            • Check your WashU email account for your invitation which will be sent on July 16. 
          August Checklist

          Academics

          • Check your WashU email account several times a week for important messages from your academic division. 
          • Confirm your AP, IB, and transfer credits were sent to the university.

          Health & well-being

          Prepare for arrival

          • Complete your Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates course due September 1.
            • You will receive an email to your WashU email account on August 1 with a link to complete the assignment.
          • Claim your profile on Handshake, your WashU internship and career management platform.
          • International students: Apply for F-1 or J-1 visa at U.S. Embassy or Consulate 
          • Pack for Move-In Day!
