Transfer students are offered a variety of on-and off-campus experiences to help them transition to WashU and feel at home in St. Louis!

The Transfer Experience begins with Bear Beginnings: Transfer & Exchange Welcome or Winter Welcome: Spring Transfer & Exchange Student Orientation.

Transfer experience excursions and programs

Transfer Excursions are designed to connect transfer students to the city of St. Louis, to one another, and help them feel at home at WashU! Previous excursions have included trips to the St. Louis Aquarium, an outdoor ice skating rink, and private bus and walking tours of St. Louis neighborhoods. Additional opportunities will be advertised in the Transfer Bear Bulletin.

Transfer & Exchange WashU Student Associate Program

Transfer & Exchange WashU Student Associates (TX WUSAs) are upper-division student leaders who assist new transfer and exchange students with their academic, social, and personal transition to Washington University.

TX WUSAs serve as orientation leaders during Fall Welcome and Winter Welcome, then they serve as peer mentors for the student’s entire first year or study abroad program. Their primary duties are to remind residents about academic deadlines, policies, and resources and to help build community among transfer and exchange student groups.

TX WUSA Hours are a university tradition that occur every other week throughout the fall semester, except for breaks, and the spring semester, until spring break. They are time to socialize with your WUSAs and fellow transfer students. They typically involve games, chatting, and community-building events. During the fall, TX WUSA Hours will be held on the following Thursdays in Lien House, Ursa’s Fireside:

September 19, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
October 3, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
October 17, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
October 31, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
November 14, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
December 5, 2024 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
